Program Description:
Spring Semester Programme 2022

Dear Christine Menand,

We are pleased to announce that applications are open for our Spring Semester Programme 2022 that will run from Monday 10 January – Friday 20 May 2022 on-site in London at the AA.
The Spring Semester Programme is a full-time, 15-week studio-based course open to undergraduate and graduate students, architects and other creative individuals from around the world who wish to further their knowledge, practice and skills in architecture. The programme encourages experimentation through a design methodology, enabling architectural propositions to respond to a larger narrative relating to the aesthetic, programmatic and socio-economic capacities of a city and its infrastructure.
The Spring Semester 2022 brief sets out to study the greenfield high-speed rail infrastructure project Rail Baltica in Riga. Rail Baltica aims to integrate the Baltic states of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and indirectly also Finland into the European rail network. As a result, city nodes along this transportation corridor will become engines for urban development. This semester, participants will focus on one of those nodes: Riga in Latvia. The city will be understood as layers of information that together reveal drawing and mapping qualities; by analysing both tangible and intangible conditions, each participant will develop their own brief to target the specific design challenges of inserting new developments within existing urban fabrics.

Please see the Spring Semester Programme 2022 brochure for further details.

Provision for the programme will include up to date Covid-19 safety measures in line with the UK government guidelines to ensure the safety of all students and staff. We encourage applications until Friday 3 December 2021.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Warm wishes,
Jolene, Naiara, Marie-Isabel and Ekaterina
