The Shanghai International Studies University
To encourage more international students to learn Chinese language and culture and to enhance the friendly exchanges between American and Chinese people, Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) will be offering two types of Chinese summer learning programs for U.S. based students in the summer of 2023:
A tuition-free 4-week online program
A low-cost 8-week in-person program
Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), founded in December 1949 in Shanghai, is the first higher institution and the birthplace for foreign language education established after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It is also one of the key universities in China under the "211 Project" and "Double First Class Initiative,“ the country’s educational construction plans of world-class universities and disciplines. The university regards globalization and multiculturalism as its core development principles and has established cooperation with more than 440 universities, educational and research institutions, and international organizations in 62 countries and regions.
Based on long-term teaching practices and research, the university has published numerous textbooks and teaching materials for foreign language education. Every year, about 4,000 international students from all over the world come to study Chinese and related degree programs at SISU, making it one of the largest universities for Chinese language and culture education in China.
