Program Type: 3. Direct/External Programs
Program Description:
Jan. 2024:
Students can seek to study at the Univ. of Porto as a Freemover student, paying tuition fees to Porto for that term abroad (i.e. a Direct pay abroad student).

For further information on mobility, , they advise direct contact with the U.Porto Faculty(ies) of interest (contacts available here).

You can check the U.Porto’s Education Offer here.
  • Each subject has a page, where students can check several details of the subject, such as the language of teaching and the ECTS of each subject (the number of ECTS for a mobility with the duration of one semester is 30 ECTS).
  • We confirm that mobility students can choose their subjects/study plan at the U.Porto according to the needs at the home institution.
  • The proposed study plan will then be analyzed by the U.Porto Faculty(ies) of choice. However, we advise that students choose the majority of the subjects from the same course, as some courses may overlap.
  • For any question related with the selection of subjects/work plan, we advise a direct contact with the U.Porto Faculty(ies) of interest (contacts available here).
  • It is noteworthy to mention that each student must check with the Faculty/Department the specific requirements (linguistic and academic) to enable his/her application to the U.Porto.
    • It is also worth mentioning that U.Porto may also provide a tutorial support in English to students that request for it and whenever possible.
    • Also note that some teachers may allow students to write assignments and take exams in other languages, namely in English, but this situation can only be agreed upon arrival in each individual case.
    • In case a subject is “Suitable for English-speaking students”, this means that non-speakers of Portuguese may select subjects specified as taught in Portuguese followed by the indication “Suitable for English-speaking students” - English may be used for assessment purposes (writing papers, assignments, taking exams, etc.) and lecturers provide tutorials in English, whenever possible. This does not mean the subject is taught in English.

All the students/researchers who wish to undertake a mobility period at the U.Porto within the framework of a study cycle must formalize their interest by filling in the Online Application available through the U.Porto’s platform - available April prior to the year ahead.
